How to find out the best material for ski helmet cover?

What is a ski helmet cover like?
At the beginning of ski helmet cover development, no one really knew what it should be like. Should it focus on material, size, design, or something else? It was just an idea in my mind: what if people could put a cute or stylish hat over their ski helmet to cover the plain black or white exterior?
As I mentioned in my last blog, the reason for using a ski helmet cover is simple – to make you stand out!
Find the most fit one!
With all these questions in mind, I decided to start with hats. Essentially, a ski helmet cover is like a hat for your helmet instead of your head. And guess what? You can also wear it on your head! 😂 If it fits over your helmet, it can certainly fit your head – it’ll just be a bit oversized.
So, I began hunting for all kinds of hats: beanies, crochet hats, knit hats, plush hats, and others I couldn’t even name.
I bought every type of hat I could find to test them as potential ski helmet covers, but the results weren’t promising.
- Knit and crochet hats are quite flexible, but it’s hard to find the right size. Plus, it’s tricky to add cute elements, and the large opening in the back for ski goggles makes them look a bit awkward.
- Plush hats come with their own challenges. They’re less flexible, so getting the right fit is tougher. However, we found that we could easily add fun elements to them.
After countless tests, we finally found a way to make the hat not only fit different ski helmet sizes but also look great!
